IV Therapy: Conclusion

As you can see, what appears to be a relatively simple procedure, is quite involved.  In this course you learned about IV fluids, tubing that is used to deliver infusions, calculating infusion rates, IV catheters, how to start, monitor and discontinue IV’s, how to manage complications associated with IV therapy and how to document care given using IV fluids.

The next step is to successfully complete the written test.  Afterward, you can use the form below to make an appointment to meet with an instructor either one-on-one or in a small group.  Your instructor will guide you in practicing how to setup, install, monitor and remove an IV infusion on a practice manikin arm.  Once you are comfortable with the skills, you will take a short practical test and earn your certificate.
